About The Position

The Parent Information Network (PIN) provides family-driven support to parents and caregivers raising children with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. This role will empower families to understand their rights and navigate the special education process with confidence through education, consultation, trainings, and school meeting participation. The position involves collaboration with parents, specialists, schools, state agencies, and community partners.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and three years’ human services experience required
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal education laws
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Preference for parents who have raised or are raising children with behavioral, emotional, or mental health challenges
  • Experience supporting families in educational settings
  • Understanding of the impact of mental health on learning
  • Ability to develop and deliver trainings and curricula
  • Training with Federation for Children with Special Needs or Wrightslaw

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational consultation and support to PIN parents, caregivers, and staff
  • Empower families with the knowledge to advocate effectively within the special education system
  • Train parents and staff on state and federal special education laws and regulations
  • Develop and facilitate trainings and workshops on educational topics
  • Meet with parents and staff to review records and make recommendations
  • Attend school meetings as assigned
  • Collaborate with DMH, schools, Mass Rehab, vocational agencies, and the PTAY Coordinator
  • Create resource guides, directories of advocates, and educational materials
  • Contribute content to the PIN E-Newsletter
  • Complete required documentation, activity sheets, and reports on time
  • Maintain punctuality and responsible use of benefit time
  • Ensure safety standards and use universal precautions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
