About The Position

The Department for Children & Families' Family Services Division Burlington Office is seeking a Resource Coordinator to join their team. The role supports children, families, and communities by promoting safety, permanency, wellbeing, and law abidance for children in need. The Burlington District is actively working to increase foster/kinship care providers and resources that match the demographic of children and families in the community. The ideal candidate will have experience working with New Americans, Refugees, and immigrants, and be committed to ensuring the division's work respects racial, ethnic, and cultural differences while prioritizing child safety and well-being. The Resource Coordinator will support the district office's assessment of foster care placement and respite resources, and recruit foster parents based on local needs. This role involves working with family service workers to identify, assess, and support relatives and natural supports as placement resources for children and youth. Additionally, the position provides foster/kinship care orientation, ongoing support for licensed foster parents (including home visits and regular communications), and facilitates communication between Family Service Workers and Foster Parents. The Resource Coordinator also acts as a district liaison to the local foster parent association, ensures accurate and timely data entry for reimbursements, stipends, and contracts, and ensures foster families respect the cultural, ethnic, and spiritual values of the families served. The role follows the Diligent Recruitment (DR) process for recruiting, retaining, and supporting kin and foster families, and tracks recruitment data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree AND one (1) year of human services work or community resource development.
  • One (1) year or more of graduate credits in a Master’s or Doctorate program related to social work, counseling, psychology, or public administration.
  • Four (4) years of child welfare experience in the role of recruiting, training and retaining foster families.
  • Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Responsibilities

  • Support district office assessment of foster care placement and respite resources.
