About The Position

This position involves developing and leading computer classes for participants, creating an engaging and supportive learning environment, and mentoring individuals, particularly first-time technology users and senior citizens. The role requires regular communication with the Program Director, maintaining accurate program documentation, and ensuring an organized workspace with all necessary supplies and materials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of one-year experience teaching computer classes with knowledge of and experience in teaching Word, Excel, Computer basics, digital platforms, photoshop, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have genuine interest in helping first time users learn technology/computers.
  • Work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Be punctual, reliable, organized and efficient to run an effective class.
  • Interest and ability to work with senior citizens and volunteers.
  • Commitment to organizations mission, vision and values.
  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Technology preferred.
  • Previous experience working with older adult community preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans and activities for class.
  • Create an atmosphere where all participants are engaged, have fun, are safe, and work collectively as a team.
  • Mentor and support new and first-time technology users.
  • Regularly communicate with Program Director regarding participants and class topics.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation including but not limited to sign in/sign out sheets, attendance reports.
  • Maintain an organized work space by taking responsibility for maintaining all supplies, materials, equipment and program spaces.
