About The Position

This position involves interviewing students to assist them in coordinating their academic course of study to ensure satisfactory completion of coursework requirements for graduation. It also provides career counseling and guidance in the scheduling of appropriate coursework, and responds to inquiries regarding admissions and program requirements. The role provides input into the selection of candidates for admission and provides summarized analyses of application information. It serves as a liaison between faculty and students, advocating student issues and concerns with the appropriate faculty or staff. The coordinator designs, generates, administers and scores course examinations, grades tests, and forwards results to the appropriate area for academic processing. Additionally, it provides direction, referral, and placement resources to students seeking employment opportunities in their respective field of study. The role may handle registration activities (course applications, fees, and materials) for various courses and may provide instruction in a student computer laboratory. Maintaining required record-keeping is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
  • Five years of experience in academic student counseling or a related field
  • Equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
