About The Position

The Education Specialist I (Fine Arts) provides statewide leadership and support to advance high-quality, standards-based fine arts education across Arkansas public schools. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of Arkansas Fine Arts Standards and related initiatives. The specialist collaborates with education service cooperatives, district and school leaders, educators, and community partners to ensure equitable access to rigorous and engaging arts education for all Arkansas students. The Education Professional I is responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing educational programs and curricula within an academic or training environment. This role involves applying academic, instructive, and pedagogical principles and best practices to enhance student learning and development. The Education Professional I may work in various settings, including schools, colleges, institutes, training centers, and other educational organizations. They collaborate with educators, administrators, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and support the achievement of learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of Arkansas Academic Standards for Fine Arts and best practices in arts instruction and assessment.
  • Strong ability to design and deliver high-quality professional development.
  • Ability to interpret and use data to drive program improvement.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, a specific subject area, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of educational principles, practices, and curriculum development.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in using educational technology and digital tools.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to education.
  • Ability to work effectively with educators and a variety of assorted personnel.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in education.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Arkansas teaching license in a fine arts area
  • Certification in teaching or educational administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, revision, and implementation of the Arkansas Fine Arts Standards and accompanying instructional resources.
  • Provide statewide professional learning and technical assistance to educators, administrators, and education service cooperatives on effective fine arts instruction and arts integration.
  • Support districts in implementing standards-based instruction, assessment practices, and curriculum alignment in fine arts programs.
  • Collaborate with ADE divisions and external stakeholders to integrate fine arts into college and career readiness initiatives and a well-rounded education framework.
  • Analyze statewide data and program outcomes to identify needs, inform decision-making, and support continuous improvement in fine arts education.
  • Develop and disseminate guidance documents, tools, and resources aligned with ADE priorities and Arkansas academic standards.
  • Develop and implement educational programs, lesson plans, and curricula aligned with agency goals and standards.
  • Develop techniques for delivering engaging and effective instruction to students, using a variety of teaching methods and materials.
  • Assess student learning and progress through formative and summative evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student performance and program activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to improve educational practices and outcomes.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education.
  • Cultivate a learning environment that supports student engagement and success.
  • Use educational technology and tools to enhance instruction and learning experiences.
  • Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the advancement of education.
