Child Start is seeking an experienced early childhood professional to plan, lead, and oversee the educational component of the Head Start Program in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards. This role is responsible for curriculum development and educational procedures that create early learning environments and opportunities to support children’s physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development, while also assisting parents in their role as their children’s primary educators. The position also involves developing standardized systems and best practices for early childhood development services and ensuring their effective implementation. Serve as a member of the program management team, sharing solutions with colleagues and committed to continuous improvement of all program operations. Visits all sites at least monthly. Establish annual education and school readiness goals based on identified needs, develop education initiatives, and identify metrics to measure progress towards successful completion. Assist in strategic program planning processes, including establishing calendar, program goals, annual HS/EHS applications (and other funding opportunities, as they arise), PIR data completion, and program self-assessment. Prepares data-driven program reports that reflect current trends, challenges, and victories and presents information to peers in a manner that embraces improvement. Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the Head Start Performance Standards and related regulations for Early Childhood Services and how to monitor and implement them. Work closely with the Children’s Services Manager and Family Services Manager to support staff in using the Whole-Family approach. Ensure program safety requirements are followed to ensure no child is left unsupervised or in an unsafe environment. Assist with implementation of corrective action as needed to support safe environments and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Commit to creating a culture of safety within Child Start’s centers, playgrounds and anywhere that children may be present. Be familiar with and encourage a culture of “See Something, Say Something”. Model direct, positive, honest, and respectful behavior in every aspect of work with children, families, staff and community members. Support individual site supervisors in building their skills in all areas required for successful center operations.
