The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University offers a one-year Academic Family Medicine Fellowship for recent family medicine residency graduates who want to develop the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for a career in academic family medicine. The fellowship combines approximately 60% clinical responsibilities (six sessions per week) with 40% protected academic time (four sessions per week). It supports development in medical student and resident education, clinical teaching and supervision, mentorship, and scholarly activity, with individualized faculty mentorship and career development. The academic component is tailored to the fellow’s interests, professional goals, and areas of academic medicine they wish to explore. Potential experiences include medical student and residency education, clinical teaching and supervision, faculty mentorship and professional development, curriculum development, and educational scholarship. The fellowship is intended to support the transition from residency to academic practice and prepare graduates for future faculty roles. The Department has a history of educating and mentoring family physicians, and its faculty advance family medicine through clinical excellence, innovative education, scholarship, and service. Academic appointment and salary are commensurate with experience. Jefferson offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
