About The Position

Walden Street School is a residential treatment setting for adolescents that specializes in trauma informed care. Walden provides 24-hour comprehensive care including a school on site, a full clinical staff, nursing staff, and direct care staff. This position is ideal for someone interested in special education, particularly with students with mental health struggles.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years or older.
• At least 1 year experience as a supervisor and administrator.
• At least 3 years of experience working in Special Education with young adults with emotional disabilities.
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Nice To Haves

• Special Education license preferred but not required.
• Candidates with experience working with adolescents in an alternative school setting or treatment program are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support students and staff in the classrooms and residential milieu as needed.
• Compile written reports (including IEP progress reports, treatment reports, rounds).
• Cover classes for teachers when they are out.
• Support students 1:1 as needed.
• Support the Education Director with tasks as needed.
• Support students before school at breakfast, and on non-school days in the milieu, through providing student supervision, educational groups and educational field trips as appropriate for individuals/groups of students.
• Provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our youth.
