About The Position

The Education Coordinator leads the development, supervision, and continuous improvement of the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) after-school academic success program. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality academic support, tutoring, and enrichment that helps every student grow, while implementing the five key elements of positive youth development in daily interactions with youth and staff. Core responsibilities include academic programming and curriculum planning, staffing and scheduling, developing enrichment activities based on teacher-referred needs, building strong relationships with parents and students, ensuring member safety, tracking youth participation and academic outcomes, and providing overall leadership of the program. All employees of the Boys & Girls Club are expected to uphold the mission of the Club.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, education degree preferred.
  • Experience working with youth in JK through 3rd grade.
  • Experience supporting academic success, tutoring, or classroom instruction.
  • Familiarity with 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant requirements, reporting, and compliance, or the ability to learn them quickly.
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to understand, implement, and model principles of positive youth development and behavior guidance, consistent with Club trainings and the values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.
  • Ability to provide leadership, on-the-spot and reflective feedback, and supervision so that staff also understand and demonstrate these principles.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit the Club Values of excellence, impact driven, teamwork, and good character.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and daily oversight of the 21st CCLC after-school academic success and tutoring program, following the timeline in the approved grant.
  • Manage daily activities at each 21st CCLC program location by working with teachers to create weekly programming plans.
  • Communicate with school administrators and teachers to ensure each student receives support in their teacher-referred academic areas.
  • Develop enrichment activities for each student based on teacher-referred needs and academic goals.
  • Implement student evaluations according to the 21st CCLC grant plan and monitor academic progress.
  • Manage the 21st CCLC timeline to ensure the program is meeting its goals and objectives.
  • Track and manage the 21st CCLC program budget.
  • Interview, hire, and supervise teachers and assistant teachers at each school site to maintain appropriate ratios.
  • Supervise employees, including writing staff reviews and performance plans and holding weekly and bi-weekly one-on-one meetings.
  • Support positive behavior and guidance for youth, and assist with creating and implementing youth success plans.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and guardians through regular check-ins.
  • Assist with facilitating and attend Club trainings, including the monthly all-staff meetings.
  • Work with the Marketing Director and Membership Coordinator to market and promote the program.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Operations Manager to ensure nutritious snacks are prepared and available for members each day.
  • Assist with community-wide Club activities and integrate family engagement into those activities.
  • Assist with Traditional Club programming when the 21st CCLC after-school academic success program is not in session.
  • Oversee and coordinate the Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program, including recruitment, hiring, staff scheduling, program promotion, and overall program planning and implementation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
