About The Position

The Education Coordinator is responsible for implementing the 5 key elements of positive youth development in their daily interactions with youth as well as their employees, and is responsible for the development, supervision and review of the 21st Century Community Learning Center after-school academic success program. The Education Coordinator responsibilities will include safety, and students, planning curriculum, staffing and scheduling, development of enrichment activities for each student based on teacher-referred needs, tracking youth numbers, and the overall supervision of this program. All employees of the Boys & Girls Club will be expected to uphold the mission of the Club.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an Accredited University, Education degree preferred.
  • Experience working with youth in 9th-12th Grade.
  • Management/Supervisory Experience.
  • Must be able to understand, implement, and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.
  • Must be able to provide leadership, on-the-spot and reflective feedback, and supervision to employees to ensure they too understand and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit the Club Values of excellence, impact driven, teamwork, and good character.
  • Lead discipline and guidance for youth having behavioral challenges and assist with the creation and implementation of youth success plans.
  • Assist with facilitating and attend Club trainings, including the monthly all staff meetings.
  • Implement the detailed 21st CCLC afterschool academic success and tutoring program’s timeline from approved grant.
  • Manage daily activities at each 21st CCLC program location by working with Teachers in creating weekly programming plans.
  • Responsible for budget tracking of the 21st CCLC program.
  • Work with Marketing Director and Membership Coordinator to market and promote the program.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Operations Manager to ensure nutritious snacks are prepared and available for all members each day.
  • Manage the 21st CCLC timeline to ensure the program is meeting the goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and disciplining teachers and assistant teachers to work in the program at each school site in order to maintain a appropriate ratios.
  • Supervise employees, which includes writing staff reviews, performance plans, and holding weekly and bi-weekly one-on-one meetings.
  • Communicate with school administrators and teachers to ensure each student is receiving help on the teacher-referred academic areas.
  • Implement student evaluations according to the 21st CCLC grant plan.
  • Assist with community-wide Club activities, as well as collaborate family engagement activities into the community-wide Club activities.
  • Assist with Traditional Club programming when the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) after-school academic success program is not in session.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
