About The Position

The Education Center Operator Assistant is responsible for assisting the Education Center Operator in the day-to-day operations of each Head Start center. They will use agency standards to ensure that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma informed care lens. Functions include the delivery of the Head Start curriculum and effective instructional practices according to the Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Licensing Minimum Standards, and policies and procedures that lead to effective school readiness and a high-quality learning environment for children and families. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships, supervising Head Start staff at their center, and incorporating an effective Parent, Family and Community Engagement Program. The position also involves maintaining and overseeing assigned budgets.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development; or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development or other related human service field with 18 hours of Early Childhood Development desirable.
  • Current CPR and First Aid.
  • Two (2) years previous experience teaching children ages birth to five.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable.
  • Certificate or license, as applicable, by the appropriate State agency as a qualified practitioner.
  • State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance.
  • Ability to explain issues and advancements in the healthcare and human services industries.
  • Concern for surpassing a standard of excellence.
  • Ability to align one's own and the organization's priorities and assess and address community needs in an evidence-based and holistic manner, one that addresses the social determinants of health through a trauma-informed lens.
  • Demonstration of ethics and sound professional practices, as well as stimulation social accountability and community stewardship.
  • Ability to understand other people as well as to accurately hear and understand the unspoken or partly expressed thoughts, feelings, and concerns of others.

Nice To Haves

  • 18 hours of Early Childhood Development desirable with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development or other related human service field.
