About The Position

The Consultant, Education and Best Practices is a leadership role focused on developing, implementing, and evaluating interdisciplinary educational services at AgeCare, ensuring they meet the needs of staff, residents, volunteers, students, and the community. This position involves collaborating with the Executive and Senior Leadership teams, community leaders, and regulatory bodies to provide timely and relevant education aligned with standards in long-term care and supportive living across Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. The Consultant promotes a positive learning environment that reflects AgeCare’s values and acts as a liaison in the community, managing agreements with post-secondary institutions for student placements and participating in research projects. Additionally, the role emphasizes health and safety awareness, fostering a culture of quality care and safety for residents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in quality management at a corporate level in Long-Term Care.
  • Bachelor of Nursing with current registration and good standing in the provincial registry.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey information and collaborate with staff and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance related to continuing care and gerontology.
  • Ability to analyze data and evaluate program effectiveness for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate AgeCare educational programs.
  • Identify learning needs through evaluation criteria, environmental scans, and gap analysis.
  • Design and deliver programs in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Align educational programs with organizational strategic plans and performance targets.
  • Ensure compliance with care standards, occupational health guidelines, and provincial regulations.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes and relevant policies.
  • Develop and maintain orientation, staff development, and continuing education programs.
  • Ensure programs cover clinical care, occupational health, and infection control for all staff levels.
  • Collaborate with IT to evaluate educational delivery tools and platforms.
  • Conduct annual educational needs assessments for all staff categories.
