About The Position

McCombs School of Business is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and innovative student employee to provide support for the McCombs Office of Instructional Innovation. The McCombs Office of Instructional Innovation (MOII) promotes efficient, innovative, and evidence-based teaching that enhances student learning. We support faculty and programs through initiatives that improve course quality, accessibility, and the effective use of educational technologies. MOII projects often have McCombs-wide and campus-wide impact, with a focus on continuous improvement and fostering a strong teaching community. The EdTech Innovation Associate will assist with helping to shape cutting-edge digital learning experiences for our students. In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience with enterprise-level educational technology while supporting our team's mission to enhance teaching and learning at the McCombs School of Business. Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours. (Any major or graduate program)
  • Enthusiasm for educational technology and digital learning
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Basic familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management systems
  • Experience with Canvas integrations such as Panopto, Perusall, or similar tools
  • Curiosity about AI tools and their applications in education
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge (not required but beneficial)
  • Interest in user experience design for educational contexts
  • Graphic design or video editing skills
  • Experience as a Teaching or Course Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Canvas course development
  • Build and optimize course structures
  • Configure assignments, discussions, and gradebooks
  • Implement interactive elements and external tools
  • Educational technology integration
  • Learn how to set up and execute assignments within Canvas integrations
  • Configure and review recorded video lectures, including automated captioning and transcripts
  • Integrate and test learning tools such as: Online proctoring solutions, Video lecture platforms, Social annotation software, Virtual classroom environments, Other Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) compatible applications
  • AI project testing and innovation
  • Explore and test emerging AI tools and platforms for potential use in teaching and course support
  • Help prototype AI-powered artifacts, agents, and resources that could support faculty or students
  • Document findings and provide feedback on usability, reliability, and practical applications in an educational setting
  • Stay current on AI trends in higher education and share relevant insights with the team
  • Quality assurance and optimization
  • Conduct thorough course functionality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure accessibility compliance for all course content, meeting UT and McCombs standards
  • Test and optimize user experience across devices
