Electrical discharge machine (EDM) operator / programmer will be responsible for programming to run wired EDM machines, as well as setting up and operating these units. The programmer works from blueprints and process sheets to determine the correct settings for units and also perform scheduled maintenance duties, including tool sharpening and machine cleaning. EDM operator/programmer must have basic computer skills and file format manipulation experience. They will work with tool-makers and designers to establish proper manufacturing methods and also inspect finished work pieces to ensure compliance with accepted manufacturing tolerances. They should also be able to measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on work material for future production, as well as monitor machines during production runs to adjust machine controls and prevent errors. They must have a personal set of tools to perform their duties and must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, as well as occasionally move 50 to 100 pounds with the assistance of another worker.
