About The Position

Boston Magazine is seeking an Editorial Intern for a remote internship, with sporadic opportunities for in-person work at the Boston Globe’s 53 State Street office. The position is based in Boston; candidates should live in the area or be willing to move.

The intern will assist with editorial research, fact-checking, and writing across Boston magazine’s website and print publications. Work may include supporting coverage of lifestyle, home, weddings, food, service guides, things to do, restaurant openings, and real estate, as well as maintaining digital guides for accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements

• Be a current college student or recent graduate.
• Have an interest in magazine journalism and a passion for Boston.
• Have a self-starter mentality and positive attitude.
• Have strong time-management and communication skills.
• Be proficient with Google platforms, including Docs, Sheets, and Gmail.
• Be willing to adapt, remain audience-focused, and bring a curious mindset.
• Be committed to creating an inclusive work environment.
• Be based in the Boston area or willing to move there.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in editorial roles such as newswriting, reporting, or editing.
• Knowledge of or familiarity with the Boston area.

Responsibilities

• Assist in fact-checking front-of-book stories covering topics such as lifestyle, home, weddings, and food.
• Contribute fact-checking and research for magazine listings, including Top Schools, Top Lawyers, and Top Dentists.
• Provide research and writing assistance to Boston magazine staff, including background research, sidebars for larger features, and other editorial tasks.
• Contribute stories to the website and print magazines as needed, including service and things-to-do guides, restaurant openings, and real estate pieces.
• Conduct interviews, internet research, and on-the-ground reporting for assigned stories.
• Update evergreen digital guides to ensure they are timely and accurate.
