About The Position

Defense News and Military Times publications are seeking interns for their 2024 internship program. This program is designed for students and recent graduates with writing and reporting experience who will collaborate with the news team on daily coverage of the defense industry and military/veteran affairs. The ideal candidate will have published articles to submit. This is a unique opportunity for individuals interested in journalism focused on business, national security, and the concerns of military service members, veterans, and their families. Interns will be assigned byline stories to report and write for publication on the company's websites and in print editions, and will also support larger team-reporting projects. Opportunities exist to work with the video and audio teams for candidates with relevant skills. The internship program includes options for students seeking academic credit and an Editorial Fellow program for recent graduates. The main office is located near Washington D.C., and these positions are not open to remote work. The spring 2024 program is scheduled from late March through May, and the summer 2024 program typically runs from May through August, with flexible dates possible based on applicant needs.
