Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or demonstrated equivalent experience/skills.

  • May need to climb stairs in multi-level office building.
  • Must be able to work in a standard office environment with artificial lighting and climate control.

Responsibilities

  • Review, organize, and edit legislation independently.
  • Work with municipal clients in the preparation of supplements.
  • Read and assimilate background information on clients to identify special instructions or needs.
  • Incorporate additional legislation and/or amend existing legislation.
  • Determine the impact of legislation on the Code and the completeness of provided information.
  • Finalize Disposition Lists from the legislation database.
  • Review legislation and other materials for internal conflicts, inconsistencies, and clarity.
  • Edit content for organization, grammar, and style.
  • Add historical information.
  • Create or revise effective chapter, article, and section titles.
  • Check, create, or revise cross-references in the text.
  • Check statutory references.
  • Add editor’s notes.
  • Identify missing legislation or wording in the text of legislation.
  • Set style for word processing/proofreading to carry out tasks.
  • Update Adopting Ordinances and supporting documents.
  • Clarify project deliverables with clients.
  • Follow up on materials on hold.
  • Communicate pertinent information to other functions as needed for the project.
  • Execute projects efficiently to meet client needs and project budgets.
  • Set and enforce schedules and timelines, where appropriate.
  • Communicate with clients via phone, written contact, and teleconference as needed.
  • Resolve conflicts and solve problems.
