About The Position

The Alaska Energy Transparency Project (AETP) is seeking an Editor for a contract position. This role involves preparing and circulating a monthly newsletter with updates on energy news, relevant legislation, and regulatory filings, particularly those relevant to the Railbelt utilities. The Editor will also engage with partner organizers, promote volunteer involvement, edit articles from other contributors, participate in collaborative fundraising, and maintain/update the AETP website. The scope of work is flexible and may vary depending on volunteer contributions. AETP aims to provide publicly available and universally digestible information about energy issues in Alaska, fostering community engagement and transparency around electric utilities and energy matters.

Requirements

Ability to release articles and newsletters in a timely manner, at appropriate intervals, and as needs arise.
Flexibility in scope of work depending on volunteer contributions.
Understanding of energy news, relevant legislation, and regulatory filings.
Ability to engage with partner organizers.
Skills in editing articles.
Willingness to participate in collaborative fundraising.
Ability to maintain/update a website.

Nice To Haves

Contributions from volunteers or interns may lower expectations for the editor to produce their own content.

Responsibilities

Preparing and circulating a monthly newsletter with updates on energy news, relevant legislation, and regulatory filings, particularly those relevant to the Railbelt utilities.
Engaging with partner organizers across the state to understand the needs of communities.
Promoting volunteer involvement in AETP to build our base of knowledgeable and engaged citizens.
Editing articles from other contributors.
Participating in collaborative fundraising efforts for the Alaska Energy Project.
Maintaining/updating the AETP website as needed.
