About The Position

Responsible for developing, writing and shaping high-impact stories that advance Tulane University’s reputation and institutional priorities. Reporting to the Executive Director of Editorial, this position focuses on writing, editing and maintaining high-quality content for Tulane Today, The Tulanian and related platforms. The Assistant Director also collaborates with News & Media Relations, social media and campus communicators to ensure consistent storytelling across university channels and external media coverage. This role provides strategic editorial support and serves as a backup to the Assistant Editorial Director for Tulane Today production when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or related field.
  • 5–7 years of professional writing and editing experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced news or media environment.
  • Experience working with digital project management tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education communications.
  • Familiarity with content management systems such as Drupal.
  • Familiarity with email publishing platforms.
