ED Tech Part Time 11A-11P
About The Position
Baptist Health Floyd is seeking an ED Technician I for its Emergency Department. This position is part of the pre-analytical testing team and is stationed in triage, fast-track, and/or the main ED. The role includes triaging and rooming patients, assisting with procedures and resuscitations, performing various patient-care tasks, and either performing urinary catheterization or phlebotomy. The position is part-time, 24 hours per week, with a midshift schedule from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The hospital is located in New Albany, Indiana, in the Southern Indiana/Louisville, Kentucky area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS certification from an approved BLS course; training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Triage and room patients, including undressing them, placing them on cardiac monitors, and obtaining blood pressure, temperature, and blood sugar readings using a glucometer.
- Answer call lights.
- Set up for procedures while maintaining sterile fields, including central lines, wound care, and gynecology procedures.
- Clean and dress wounds and assist with incision and drainage procedures.
- Assist with casting and splinting.
- Fit patients with devices such as slings, CAM boots, walkers, and stretchers.
- Collect swabs, including flu and strep specimens.
- Transport patients to CT, ultrasound, MRI, and inpatient units as needed.
- Perform EKGs as requested.
- Assist with resuscitations.
- Perform urinary catheterization or phlebotomy.
