About The Position

As part of the unit based team, this position is responsible for providing direct and indirect care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. In addition to providing clinical care for patients, this position also rotates to oversee the patients and families in the ED waiting area; providing assistance to patients upon arrival, assisting the triage RN in identifying medical necessity, supporting and providing information to patients, families and staff.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, guests, and co-workers in English both verbally and in writing.
• Exceptional people skills and an ability to function in a calm manner in stressful situations.
• Ability to adapt, prioritize, and function in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
• National Registered Paramedic - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians OR proof of current completion of 2 semesters in an accredited Registered Nursing Program.
• Basic Lifesaving Certification - American Heart Association.
• Responsible for the care of neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Standing the majority of the shift with the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. frequently.
• Work involves sitting, kneeling, climbing and squatting.

Responsibilities

• Providing assistance to patients upon arrival.
• Assisting the triage RN in identifying medical necessity.
• Supporting and providing information to patients, families and staff.
