Under the direction of a registered nurse and/or physician, the ED Tech assists in the care and treatment of patients. This role is per diem/on-call, with a schedule that varies as needed. A key responsibility is providing Spanish/English interpretive services to limited-English-proficiency (LEP) patients throughout the hospital, the Community Paramedic Program, and clinics. The position also involves interviewing incoming patients or their representatives for registration and discharge information during limited hours, assisting physicians and healthcare staff in communication for medical care and administrative requirements, and helping LEP patients adapt to an environment where their native language is not spoken by facilitating comfort through communication.
