•$22 - $33•Onsite

About The Position

The ED Tech provides patient care as directed by nursing and medical staff in the Emergency Department. Duties include performing assigned clinical procedures, documenting interventions in the electronic medical record, monitoring patients, and promptly reporting concerns about patient status. EMT-Ps licensed by IDPH may complete the required housewide competency to start IVs and saline locks and administer IV fluids. The role supports patient care operations by maintaining supplies, linens, equipment, and cleanliness throughout the department. It also includes patient rounding, assisting with service recovery, maintaining annual competencies, performing point-of-care testing, collaborating with peers to ensure coverage, and assisting with basic clerical functions when needed. The ED Tech transports patients, supplies, and equipment within the facility. This role involves very heavy lifting with assistance as appropriate, transporting patients of all ages and sizes—including bariatric patients—and exposure to unpleasant odors and blood-borne, airborne, and opportunistic pathogens. The work can be highly stressful because patient volumes and the level of critical care needed are unpredictable. The position requires completion of age-specific competency.
