About The Position

Children’s Minnesota is seeking an ED Staff Physician to join their pediatric health system. This role involves providing high-quality, evidenced-based care to pediatric and adolescent patients in a free-standing children's hospital emergency department. The physician will also be responsible for supervising residents and PEM fellows, prescribing appropriate medications, health regimens, and lifestyle adjustments to promote patient recovery and well-being. Children's Minnesota is a leading pediatric health system in the United States, serving children from before birth through young adulthood. It is an independent, not-for-profit system with two free-standing hospitals, multiple clinics, and rehabilitation sites. The system is recognized as a top children's hospital and a Top Diversity Leader. The Emergency Medicine Services program serves an 11-county region and is a tertiary and quaternary referral center for the Upper Midwest. The department is a primary regional teaching site for multiple residency programs and has a robust PEM Fellowship program.

Requirements

  • Board BE/BC in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited PEM Fellowship program
  • Board BE/BC in Sub Specialty, if applicable.
  • Ability to be successfully credentialed by both Hospital and 3rd Party Payers.
  • Must have an M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree from another country with a current Minnesota Medical License or the ability to obtain one.
  • Clinical competency and expertise in caring for hospitalized children.
  • Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of common medication, side effects and contraindications.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Respect for patient's confidentiality.

  • Responsible and trustworthy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidenced-based care to pediatric and adolescent age patients presenting with the full spectrum of acute medical and traumatic concerns in a free-standing children's hospital emergency department.
  • Resident and PEM Fellow supervision
  • Responsible for prescribing patients with appropriate medication, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery, prevent future health issues and/or promote a healthier life.
