The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) will assist in the delivery of care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a practicing physician, physician assistant, and/or licensed nurse. This role involves direct patient care, specimen preparation, laboratory testing, blood drawing, preparing patients for diagnostic imaging, performing electrocardiograms, applying dressings and splints, assisting with restraints, and transporting patients. The EDT will also document patient care in the electronic medical record, participate in critical care teams (Code Green, Sepsis, PAMI, Stroke, Thrombectomy, Trauma), maintain patient flow, stock supplies, assist in procedures, and contribute to the education and training of new staff. Additionally, the role involves participating in performance improvement activities, assuming patient care attendant duties as needed, maintaining equipment, ensuring a safe and confidential work environment, and adhering to organizational standards and values.
