ED Observation - 36hrs. Nights and EOW

About The Position

This is a 36-hour position for an ED Observation RN. The role involves rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and every other weekend (EOW). The nurse must be able to read telemetry strips. The unit consists of 16 new observation beds for patients and holds. The patient population is adult, with a census of 10-16 patients. The clinician to patient ratio is 4:1 or 5:1 depending on unit needs. Floating is required, as are rotating shifts. The EMR system used is Epic, Asap, and Clin doc.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working in one location.
• 2 years of experience working as a Traveler.
• General ED nursing skills including assessment, documentation, IV, phlebotomy, EKG, Cardiac Monitoring, point of care testing, splinting, critical thinking and patient education.
• Ability to read telemetry strips.
• Active MA RN License.
• AHA ACLS certification.
• AHA PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ED nursing skills including assessment, documentation, IV insertion, phlebotomy, EKG, cardiac monitoring, point of care testing, splinting, critical thinking, and patient education.
• Manage patient care in an observation setting.
• Adapt to varying patient census and needs.
• Float to other units as required.
• Work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and every other weekend.
