About The Position

Rigid Tactical is seeking highly skilled and Qualified ECS Weapons-based Instructor II (High Risk) personnel to serve as the backbone of our tactical firearms training. We are looking for professional marksmen and instructors capable of delivering high-intensity, live-fire instruction to Navy personnel. The successful candidate will be responsible for mastery in the M18 Service Pistol and M4 Carbine, ensuring that every student achieves combat proficiency while maintaining the highest levels of range safety and operational discipline.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience delivering weapons-based courses of instruction including live-fire training.
  • Must possess and demonstrate modern dynamic combat shooting skills.
  • Must achieve and maintain Sharpshooter qualification on M18 Service Pistol and M4 Carbine semi-annually (every 180 days).
  • Completed an approved Small Arms Instructor Course per OPNAVINST 3591.1 paragraph 11.
  • Line Coach (Small Arms): Must complete PQS per NAVEDTRA 43466 within 90 days of reporting.
  • Range Safety Officer (RSO): Designation required for a portion of the instructor staff; must be designated prior to the end of mobilization.
  • Familiarity with M18 Service Pistol and M4A1 Carbine (current TCCD weapons).
  • Minimum 2 years documented tactical military operational experience in all ECS topic areas.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a formal instructor with completion of NITC (A-012-0077) or equivalent.
  • U.S. Citizenship required (per DoD Manual 5200.02).
  • Valid driver's license; CDL required for 30 of 45 weapons instructors (FMCSA ELDT-compliant).
  • Ability to pass medical and psychological screening per OPNAVINST 1500.75 and NETCINST 1500.13.
  • Must pass AA&E Screening (OPNAV 5530/1) within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Drug-free; must pass pre-employment urinalysis at a DHHS-certified lab.
  • Current Basic First Aid and CPR certification (classroom-based; no CBT).
  • Enrolled in a hearing conservation program (29 CFR 1910.95) with baseline audiogram.
  • Full compliance with the Lautenberg Amendment (signed statement required).
  • Physical fitness sufficient to perform all training evolutions, including qualification in standing, kneeling, and prone positions.
  • CDL-A or CDL-B with passenger endorsement (44/36-passenger buses).
  • RSO designation strongly preferred for immediate assignment to live-fire phases upon hire.
  • Combat deployment with operational small arms employment.
  • Prior CBRNE, C-IED, Convoy Operations, or JET instructor qualifications.
  • Familiarity with Force on Force (Simunitions/FATS) training methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver M18 Service Pistol instruction: Operations, Marksmanship, and Combat Shooting Fundamentals (28.25 total hours).
  • Deliver M4 Service Rifle instruction: Operations, Zeroing, Qualification, and Combat Shooting Fundamentals (22.0 total hours).
  • Enforce all range safety procedures; serve as RSO or Line Coach during live-fire operations and deliver comprehensive Small Arms Safety briefings.
  • Conduct student weapons qualifications in accordance with OPNAVINST 3591.1G.
  • Transport students to/from training ranges as a CDL-certified bus driver (if designated).
  • Perform Armed Sentry Representative duties for weapons transport to/from the range.
  • Conduct daily range operations checks, maintain vehicle logs, and ensure range cleanliness.
  • Maintain student supervision during all live-fire evolutions at required student-to-instructor ratios (ranging from 67:20 to 67:34).
  • Issue and track weapons, ammunition, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in coordination with armory procedures.
  • Complete CUIT certification for assigned weapons phases prior to independent instruction.
  • Maintain all ITJ certifications: First Aid, CPR, Audiogram, UTP, Lautenberg, and Drug Screen.
  • Re-qualify at Sharpshooter standards every 180 days (Government provides weapons/ammo).
