The position is located in the Tax Research and Planning Office, Department of Taxation. The Tax Research and Planning Office (Office) prepares statistical reports on tax collection, provides estimates of the revenue consequences of proposed legislation, and conducts research to help design and evaluate State tax policies and programs. The Office provides administrative and technical support to the Council on Revenues, which provides forecasts of general fund tax revenues and the state's total personal income. The Office supports the Council on Revenues by maintaining an econometric model and data required to predict tax collections based on forecasts of various economic variables that are provided by the Council members. The primary purpose of this position is to conduct research and prepare studies using accepted statistical and analytical techniques to assist in developing new tax legislation and in evaluating existing tax policies and tax programs.
