The Central American Division of the Western Hemisphere Department has an opening for an economist to work on Honduras. This role involves participating in the completion of an existing 3-year EFF/ECF program and negotiating a successor Fund-supported program. The assignment offers the opportunity to address significant structural reform needs, macroeconomic and institutional challenges, and social and climate adaptation needs in Honduras. The successful candidate will work with the new government, which has a strong relationship with the Fund and is highly engaged with policy advice and capacity development. This position is in a LIC (Low-Income Country) and desk experience will count towards the LIC/FCS operational experience requirement for promotion. The division also has an active research agenda supporting regional surveillance and conferences. The candidate will be part of a team monitoring the Honduran economy, helping design the successor program, contributing to program follow-up, drafting Fund documents, conducting analytical work, and formulating policy advice. Contribution to the regional analytical agenda is also expected.
