About The Position

The Middle East and Central Asia Department (MCD) has an opening for an Economist/Senior Economist to work in the Regional Analytics and Strategy Division (RSD). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Regional Economic Outlook for the Middle East and Central Asia and help prepare related outreach materials, identify relevant research topics, and produce high-quality analytical work to support the Department’s policy positions. An experienced candidate would have the opportunity to lead the preparation of conjunctural and/or analytical chapters. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to present analytical work through internal seminars and outreach to international and regional institutions and contribute to presentations and other outreach material for senior management. Other responsibilities in RSD include regularly monitoring regional developments, reviewing multilateral surveillance papers, and providing regional inputs for these products, as necessary. In addition, the candidate will have the chance to contribute to formulating departmental and communication strategies and help coordinate the accountability framework. There will also be opportunities to be involved in other departmental cross-country analytical projects. As well as having a keen interest in gaining experience with regional surveillance work, strong analytical and drafting skills would be desirable.

Requirements

  • Considerable graduate work in economics, or equivalent, is required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
