About The Position

The Research Department of the International Monetary Fund is seeking Economist/Senior Economist candidates. The selected candidate(s) will contribute to the development and application of global macroeconomic models for policy scenarios and risk analysis. They will work closely with IMF country teams on the calibration of these models to Advanced Economies, Emerging Market Economies, and Low-Income Countries. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to play an active role in delivering quantitative model-based scenarios that speak to a wide range of countries and can be effectively communicated to policymakers and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Advanced graduate degree in economics or a related field.
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong academic and policy-oriented background in macroeconomics and macroeconomic modeling.
  • Excellent analytical, written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of large teams.
  • Flexibility and ability to perform under tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Good understanding of Fund policies and practices.
  • Proficiency in macroeconomic modeling, statistical and econometric techniques, and related software—particularly MATLAB, Troll, Python, IRIS, and Dynare.
