About The Position

The WHD Southern II Division is seeking an Economist/Senior Economist to work on the Argentina team, which is currently engaged in an extended arrangement under the EFF. The successful candidate will contribute actively to this high-profile case and should be comfortable working under pressure and amid intense internal and external scrutiny.

The role contributes to the team’s analytical and operational work, especially in the assigned sector; helps ensure coherence of the macroeconomic framework; and prepares initial drafts of country program documents and briefs. The position also involves participating in missions, building working relationships with country authorities, and liaising with review departments.

Requirements

• Strong analytical and data management skills.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests.
• Prior experience working on emerging economies, ideally in a program setting.
• Good knowledge of Fund policies.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to work as a team player and build traction with country authorities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working on monetary policy, central banking, reserve management, exchange rate, financial sector, or macro-financial issues.
• Working knowledge of Spanish; candidates who are not yet proficient would be expected to take intensive Spanish language training.
