About The Position

The People eXperience and Technology Central Science (PXTCS) team is seeking an economist to apply economic methods to solve business problems. This role involves collaborating with engineers and computer scientists to estimate models and algorithms using large-scale data, designing and measuring the impact of pilots, and scaling successful prototypes into improved policies and programs. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with a strong technical economic foundation, a willingness to learn from other disciplines, and the ability to execute and deliver on significant ideas within an interdisciplinary technical team.

Requirements

  • PhD in economics or equivalent
  • Knowledge of data analysis languages (e.g., R, Stata, Python, etc.) or other statistical software
  • Experience in a postdoctoral position, consulting position, government position or academic research
  • Experience with SQL

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team setting with individuals from diverse disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Develop scientific models and conduct data analysis, modeling, and experimentation for estimating and validating models.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to develop scalable data resources for rapid insights.
  • Transition successful models and findings into production as new products and services.
  • Be customer-centric, communicating scientific approaches and findings to business leaders.
  • Incorporate feedback from business leaders and deliver successful scientific solutions.
  • Identify appropriate research questions.
  • Write code to implement analyses such as DID or estimate structural models.
  • Write and present documents with findings to business leaders.
  • Collaborate with partner teams throughout the process, from understanding challenges to developing research agendas and implementing solutions.
