About The Position

Join the Economic Stability and Self-Sufficiency team as a Supervisor and lead the daily operations of a parish or district office serving individuals and families in need. This role oversees staff who deliver critical financial and supportive benefits through programs such as SNAP, FITAP, Kinship Care Assistance, and STEP. The position offers the opportunity to guide staff performance, ensure accurate and timely benefit delivery, and manage complex federal and state program requirements—making a direct impact on community well-being while supporting program integrity and compliance.

Requirements

  • Six years of economic stability social services experience; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of economic stability social services experience; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of economic stability social services experience; OR An advanced degree in a social sciences field, business, public, or health administration plus two years of economic stability social services experience.
  • Applicants must clearly describe their experience with specific Economic Stability, Medicaid programs, etc. and/or identify the section or unit in which they performed economic stability social services work (e.g., SNAP/Economic Stability, Child Care Assistance Program, Strategies to Empower People, Family Independence Temp Assistance, Medicare/Medicaid, etc.) within their job duties. Failure to include this information may result in the application being deemed ineligible for further consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Social Service Analysts and an Economic Stability Specialist, including staff training, performance management, leave approval, conflict resolution, and oversight of unit operations, which may span multiple parishes.
  • Leads the resolution of client and staff disputes, complaints, and conflicts by conducting interviews, investigating issues, and ensuring timely and appropriate resolutions.
  • Reviews cases and subordinate work for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness in determining eligibility for SNAP, FITAP, Kinship Care Assistance, and STEP program benefits.
  • Ensures accurate data entry and case maintenance in the Louisiana Integrated Technology for Eligibility System (LITES), including verification, documentation review, and identification of error trends with corrective action implementation.
  • Provides policy guidance and training to staff by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of program policies, interpreting procedures, coordinating with regional program specialists, and participating in required professional development and disaster readiness training.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical and management reports, supports administrative functions in the absence of the ES Manager, and builds partnerships with community providers to strengthen referral processes and expand client services.

  • This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates (SER), as well as a Premium Pay of up to $2.00/hr for hours worked based on longevity.
