About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development is currently seeking a Economic Development Business Recruitment/Development Manager to join their team. Under administrative direction, the Economic Development Business Recruitment/Development Manager develops, implements and coordinates the Department of Economic Development’s business and workforce recruitment programs. Coordinates efforts to attract new enterprise, talent, and investment in Nebraska through the administration of Department programs, developing alliances with business executives, industry representatives, trade associations, entrepreneurs, Nebraska citizens, government leaders, and other state and federal agencies. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Post high school coursework in business administration, economics, marketing or finance
  • 5-7 years experience in advanced sales, economic development and/or international marketing
  • Foreign language speaking abilities would be a plus.
  • This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is required.
  • Knowledge of: the principles, practices and objectives of economic development, grant management, and marketing; principles and practices of supervision; project management procedures; sales techniques including marketing, prospecting, negotiating and closing; research practices and techniques; finance practices and principles.
  • Ability to: implement and monitor projects and strategies; plan, direct and evaluate the work of economic technical and specialized staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, marketing, or related field.
  • Two or more years in direct grant management experience.
  • Past professional experience in management, economic development, and marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Administration of various Department programs including planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising Department personnel.
  • Formulate and implement industry and workforce recruitment efforts.
  • Identifies, prospects, and successfully closes negotiations with businesses to relocate or expand in Nebraska.
  • Represent the state and the Department at trade shows, economic development conferences, and other public events to promote the state and its recruitment efforts.
  • Serve as a liaison with communities, businesses, workforce, and entrepreneurs regarding business development needs and economic development programs and services.
  • All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
