About The Position

The Economic Data Analyst will support transportation and infrastructure planning initiatives through economic, demographic, and transportation data analysis. The successful candidate will collect, organize, analyze, and interpret large datasets to support policy development, capital planning, economic forecasting, and strategic decision-making. This role requires strong quantitative skills, experience with economic research methodologies, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Transportation Planning, Public Policy, Urban Planning, or a related quantitative field.
3+ years of professional experience in economics, transportation analysis, statistics, data analytics, or a related field.
Experience conducting quantitative, statistical, and qualitative analyses.
Experience working with transportation, economic, or demographic datasets.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Working knowledge of Power BI, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
Experience with statistical and analytical software such as R, Python, EViews, Stata, or similar tools.
Understanding of statistical analysis and econometric methods.
Experience querying databases and managing large datasets.
Must be eligible to obtain a SWAC (Secure Worker Access Consortium) ID and any required security clearances upon hire.
Must be available for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of four days per week in the office.

Nice To Haves

Experience in transportation planning, infrastructure analysis, or public sector consulting.
Knowledge of transportation activity analysis, economic impact analysis, benefit-cost analysis, and forecasting techniques.
Familiarity with public economic and transportation data sources.
Experience creating data visualizations and executive-level reporting materials.

Responsibilities

Gather, validate, and analyze economic, demographic, and transportation data from public and proprietary sources, including Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED), USDOT, and other relevant databases.
Identify and evaluate trends affecting transportation systems, regional economies, labor markets, inflation, remote work patterns, and infrastructure investment.
Develop and maintain datasets, dashboards, and analytical models to support planning and policy initiatives.
Perform statistical and quantitative analyses using appropriate methodologies and analytical tools.
Manage and analyze large and complex datasets using Excel, Power BI, databases, and programming languages.
Automate data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes using R, Python, or similar tools.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative market and industry research.
Perform literature reviews and evaluate economic and transportation studies.
Monitor economic indicators, policy developments, and industry trends.
Prepare concise reports, presentations, and briefing materials for project teams and leadership.
Summarize research findings and provide actionable recommendations to support project and investment decisions.
Communicate analytical results clearly through written reports, presentations, and stakeholder correspondence.
Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining analytical rigor.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid work environment.
Assist in transportation activity analysis, benefit-cost analysis, economic impact assessments, and econometric forecasting projects.
Adapt to changing priorities and contribute to a variety of analytical assignments as needed.
