About The Position
The Economic Services team serves the public in a rewarding role that helps our community receive the crucial needs they must have to live happy healthy lives. Economic Services aids individuals and families in need by providing evaluation for health care during pregnancy and delivery, evaluation for Medicaid, health care and medicines for families with children, evaluation for Food and Nutrition Services for families and transportation. We are currently seeking a Economic Benefits Technician to join this hard working team and start making an impact in our community today. The Economic Benefits Technician will aid clients that visit the Human Services facility at Swinburne, which includes research of the case in NC FAST and On Base, assisting with interviews, troubleshooting problem areas, referrals to appropriate resources and enter late recertifications into NC FAST. The position will also provide back up support to Customer Service Representatives on the team /front desk with client registration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of experience in human services
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn Economic Services Program policy and NCFast navigation
- Exceptional customer service skills
- The ability to listen, react and respond appropriately to others, and to patiently and professionally assist demanding or emotional clientele
Nice To Haves
- Fluency in Spanish
- NC FAST experience
- On Base experience
- One year of Customer Service experience in a Human Services or medical clinic setting
- Excellent customer service skills
Responsibilities
- Enter recertifications into NC FAST
- Interview clients
- Search clients in NC FAST and On Base before logging them in to see the person on duty for FNS team
- Answer general questions via phone, email, or in person
- Retrieve, prepare and process outgoing mail for scheduled pickup
- Be alert to potential irate clients and notify appropriate staff
- Scan documents that clients bring into On Base and help clients complete recertification if needed
