JMT is currently ranked #45 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms. This position is responsible for supporting engineering design and project delivery using established engineering principles and practices. Under the guidance of senior staff, this role involves interpreting project requirements, performing technical analyses, preparing design documents, and coordinating assigned tasks with moderate supervision. JMT is seeking motivated professionals interested in ecological restoration, including the planning and design of stream, wetland, and habitat restoration projects, along with related natural resource services. The role primarily supports projects in the Mid-Atlantic region but offers opportunities to contribute across JMT’s broader geographic footprint. The Project Engineer I is expected to independently complete routine to moderately complex technical tasks, apply applicable regulatory and design guidance, and recognize when additional coordination or technical review is needed. The ideal candidate will be familiar with local, state, and federal permitting requirements, collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical information through reports and drawings, and assist with marketing and proposal efforts for JMT’s environmental services. This position provides a clear path for increasing technical responsibility and career advancement within JMT’s ecological restoration practice.
