About The Position

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is hiring an Ecological Project Manager for its Indianapolis, Indiana office. The role supports projects for clients in the natural gas, renewable energy, power, mining, real estate, and solid waste industries. The position offers a mix of field and office work and provides wetland training and development in technical expertise, data interpretation, financial management, and client development. The employee will work with senior ecologists who provide mentorship throughout project stages, from proposal development through final deliverables, with opportunities for continued career growth.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a natural sciences field, such as ecology, environmental science, environmental studies, or biology.
At least 4 years of experience performing or leading applied ecological field studies.
Solid understanding of the scientific process.
Ability to work in a team setting.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple project needs.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a 40-hour wetland delineation training.
Familiarity with Section 401 and 404 Clean Water Act regulations and permitting requirements in the Midwest region.
Demonstrated experience with geographic information systems (GIS).
Demonstrated experience in data collection and management.
Familiarity with ecological restoration practices.

Responsibilities

Perform or lead applied ecological field studies, such as wetland and stream delineation, botany, fisheries, forestry, and threatened and endangered species studies.
Manage and prioritize multiple project needs.
Contribute to projects from proposal through final deliverable.
