About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring an Echocardiographer for the Cardiac service line non-invasive lab. This is a full time, day shift position in Harrisonburg, Va. The echocardiographer is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the heart, working closely with cardiologists to evaluate heart structures, functions, and blood flow, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. The lab performs approximately 9,500 procedures annually and works closely with invasive cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery services. Each team member is expected to perform about 7 exams per day.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program (or equivalent education) in accordance with IAC Guidelines.
• Candidates must have at least one of the four certifications (RDCS, RCCS, RCS, or ACS).
• BLS required.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• Adult 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echo, myocardial strain, contrast (DEFINITY), agitated saline (bubble study), exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo required.
• Communication with patients and providers required.
• Must live within a 30-minute drive of the hospital for call purposes.

Responsibilities

• Performs two-dimensional echocardiograms, Doppler echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms and pharmacological stress echocardiograms to evaluate heart and vessel abnormalities for the evaluation of heart disease and blood flow abnormalities.
• Completes the technologist report in the structured report application.
• Performs adult 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echo, myocardial strain, contrast (DEFINITY), agitated saline (bubble study), exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo.
• Generates preliminary reports in ProSolv (Structured Report SW Application).
• Provides accurate diagnostic information.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards.
