About The Position

The Echocardiograph Technician performs echocardiography examinations according to department procedure as required for age-specific populations. The technician will provide preliminary exam findings to the Cardiologists to aid in the interpretation of the study. Ensures that all exams are documented accurately.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular program.
  • 1-2 years experience in a similar clinical setting.
  • Valid ARDMS: RDCS Adult Echo.
  • Pediatric Echo a plus.
  • Current BLS.
  • Competence in performing Echo, Doppler, Color flow, and Stress Echo.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cardiac ultrasound testing; selects and operates equipment as directed.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing Echo, Doppler, Color flow, Stress Echo and electrocardiograms
  • Interacts with patients, answering inquiries and explaining examination details
  • Maintains patient information and examination records accurately and confidentially.
  • Performs maintenance on equipment before and after use to keep it operating as intended
  • Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment after each patient use.
  • Maintains all supplies required for testing.
  • Moves patients applying proper safety and body mechanics.
  • Collect, interpret and or analyze diagnostic data.
  • Provides preliminary exam findings to the cardiologist to aid in the interpretation of the study.
