The Sonographer is responsible for performing all functions necessary to produce high-quality cardiac ultrasound examinations, consistent with credentialing and scope of practice. This position supports patient care by performing ultrasounds, educating the patient on the process and answering any questions they may have. The role also involves demonstrating proficiency in the operation of ultrasound equipment and related imaging procedures, accurately acquiring imaging measurements in accordance with established department protocols, and preparing digital preliminary reports while verbally communicating critical findings to the interpreting physician. Additionally, the Echo Tech performs routine administrative and clinical duties to support efficient clinic and provider operations, ensures accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation, exercises sound clinical judgment and technical expertise in the use of sonographic equipment, and maintains ultrasound equipment in optimal working condition, ensuring functionality and readiness for immediate use. Safeguarding patient information by maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA regulations is also a key responsibility.
