About The Position

The Echo Sonographer II - Per Diem - 8-Hour Day Shift position is available with an organization recognized ten years in a row on the “Best Hospitals” Honor Roll by U.S. News & World Report. The Smidt Heart Institute is a leading cardiovascular care facility in the United States, uniting 16 centers and programs to diagnose and treat a wide range of heart and vascular conditions. This role involves collaborating with world-class faculty and physicians to provide compassionate care and access to pioneering treatments. The Echo Sonographer assists physicians in performing basic Echocardiographic imaging and other procedures for cardiac patients in an outpatient setting. This includes detecting issues related to blood flow and heart ailments, escalating findings to physicians for diagnosis and treatment planning, and maintaining a safe patient environment. Mentorship will be provided until competency in equipment use and imaging protocols is achieved.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound school required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • RDCS from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or RCS issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer required

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants willing to obtain certification within one year from start date may be considered as a Sonographer I
  • Applicants with less than 3 years of experience may be considered as a Sonographer I

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in performing basic Echocardiographic imaging and other procedures.
  • Performs ultrasound imaging technologies for cardiac patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Assists with detecting issues related to blood flow and heart ailments and escalates appropriately to physicians as they develop diagnoses and design patient treatment plans.
  • Receives mentorship until able to exercise competency in the use of all related ultrasound equipment and imaging protocols.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe patient environment and ensures that the room and equipment are prepared, functional and stocked for assigned procedures.
