About The Position

The Smidt Heart Institute is a cardiovascular care institute comprising 16 centers and programs that diagnose and treat heart and vascular conditions for patients ranging from infants to people with advanced disease. Its care is integrated with research and collaboration across specialties, including transplantation, stem cell therapy, congenital heart disease, women’s heart health, valve disorders, arrhythmia, and hypertension.

The Cardiac Sonographer Level II performs inpatient echocardiogram or transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) exams throughout the Medical Center, including procedural areas, recovery rooms, and the Emergency Department. The role requires proficiency in performing procedures and competency in using related ultrasound equipment and computers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduation from an accredited ultrasound school.
• Current ARDMS or CCI certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• At least 3 years of experience as a full-time sonographer.

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient echocardiogram or TTE exams using Color, Spectral Doppler, and 2-D imaging throughout the Medical Center, procedural areas, recovery rooms, and Emergency Department.
• Demonstrate proficiency in performing all procedures.
• Use related ultrasound equipment and computers competently.
