About The Position

This position is for an ECG Technician at Atlantic Health's Morristown Medical Center, working on a per diem basis. The role involves performing electrocardiograms, ensuring patient privacy and accurate readings, and communicating abnormal findings promptly. Key responsibilities also include maintaining and cleaning EKG equipment, reporting defects or hazardous situations, and adhering to hospital infection control policies. The technician is expected to communicate effectively and pleasantly with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintain a positive attitude, work collaboratively, and be adaptable to changing department needs. The role requires the ability to work unsupervised and make independent decisions, while continuously seeking to improve personal strengths and weaknesses. Responsibilities

  • Performs electrocardiograms in a timely manner.
  • Introduces self to patient and explains procedure to patient.
  • Checks two patient identifications and ensures patient privacy.
  • Eliminates all avoidable artifacts and maintains stable baseline in all twelve leads.
  • Communicates any abnormal findings inconsistent with previous findings within thirty minutes of test completion.
  • Cleans, stocks, and maintains EKG machines.
  • Recognizes and reports any defective equipment.
  • Reports any hazardous situations involving the safety and/or wellbeing of patients or staff members.
  • Cleans and maintains EKG equipment utilized in isolation according to hospital infection control policy and procedure.
  • Communicates with patients, family members, physicians and staff members in a pleasant and informative manner.
  • Takes messages accurately and completely.
  • Writes legibly and neatly.
  • Organizes written communication in a logical way for format and content.
  • Maintains a positive attitude, enhancing environment of teamwork and working with co-workers as a member of a unit.
  • Accepts suggestions in a positive manner.
  • Helpful to others in the department by getting work done.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic regarding daily duties.
