About The Position

This role involves operating multiple types of machines in the production department and/or assembling and packing products. The position works under moderate supervision and requires previous manufacturing experience. The operator will be responsible for producing to established production and quality standards, conducting simple quality inspections, and keeping accurate counts of production parts. They will also input simple data into computerized machines (but not program them), keep work areas clean and orderly, and conduct all work in a safe manner following established safety standards. Reading specified measuring instruments and performing minor set-up adjustments and preventative maintenance are also key aspects of the role. The position may also involve participating on project teams as requested and receiving team and continuous process improvement training.

Requirements

Previous manufacturing experience is required.
Ability to understand the meaning of written or printed matter.
Ability to write information by inscribing characters or symbols.
Ability to speak simple sentences and communicate to co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply or divide.
Determine the number of individual things in a unit or group.
Stand; walk.
Medium heavy lifting 80 lbs. maximum with continuous lifting and/or carrying objects with average weight of 40 lbs.
Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Firm grasping - the ability to exert sufficient grip to pick-up a case of 12 oz. soft drinks or to pick-up a bowling ball. Requires approximate grip strength of 45-60 lbs. on a hand dynamometer.
Sufficient coordination to place and screw a small washer on a bolt, to pick-up clip from a desk top, or pick up a dime off a counter top. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

Operate multiple types of manual or semi-automatic machines.
Move materials and/or parts between workstations.
Assist other operators by loading or unloading jigs, fixtures, and/or tooling.
Assemble and/or pack products.
Load and unload all levels of machines, conveyors, pallets or automatic lines.
Perform set-up for the packing department by setting up tables and obtaining packing supplies necessary for each job.
Perform necessary rework and minor repairs.
Keep accurate counts of production parts.
Produce to established production and quality standards and conduct simple quality inspections.
Input simple data into computerized machines, but does not program computer.
Keep work areas clean and orderly. Responsible for conducting all works in a safe manner following established safety standards.
Read specified measuring instruments including but not limited to tape measure, micrometer, etc.
Receive team and continuous process improvement training and participate on project teams as required.
Perform minor set-up adjustments and preventative maintenance as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
May participate on project teams as requested.
