About The Position

Provide support to EC teachers at varied sites and levels (Elementary, Middle, and High) with caseload management and a focus on EC paperwork support. This is an itinerant position and will be coordinating with and supporting various sites.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws governing programs and services for exceptional children.
  • Knowledge of technology to operate a computer to generate psychological reports and data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, teachers, students, and administrators.
  • Ability to organize time efficiently and to be self-motivated in scheduling assigned work.
  • Ability to move from school to school to address student needs.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in approaching and working with sensitive and difficult situations.
  • Ability to work with colleagues and families in a professional manner.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from a Regionally Accredited College or University.
  • Must be licensed in Special Education or eligible for licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Support EC case managers at varied sites with required documents (Referral, Eligibility, Annual Review, etc.), schedule, and facilitate IEP meetings.
  • Act as a case manager for assigned students, consult with EC teachers, school support professionals, parents, and community agencies to provide the understanding and meet student needs at varied sites.
  • Develop IEPs for students with disabilities utilizing diagnostic information obtained from evaluations and other assessment procedures.
  • Assist with data collection and Progress Monitoring support.
  • Draft documents for IEP meetings; finalize documents to ensure compliance after meetings.
  • Adapt and/or develop materials required to meet student needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Adhere to confidentiality requirements.
  • Communicate with parents regarding the educational progress and EC programming.
  • Facilitate communication with EC teachers, psychologists, related service providers, regular education teachers, and school administration.
  • Interact and treat all students, parents, coworkers, and community agency personnel in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, calculators, pencils, scissors, and equipment for children with special needs, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
