PreK ESL Aide (Tuition Based) (26-27 SY) - Clifton EC
About The Position
This is a tuition-based position. Funds for this position are expected to be available up to the end of the school year. In addition to other specified conditions of employment, the applicant understands that no guarantee of continued employment, beyond the availability of the tuition enrollment funds, is expressed or implied by Irving Independent School District. The primary purpose of this role is to assist the classroom teacher to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students. This includes assisting in the implementation of classroom programs, such as self-help, behavior management, and instruction. The position works under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.
Requirements
- Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work well with children
- Proficient communication skills
- Ability to operate computer using a variety of basic applications
- Knowledge of general office equipment
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings
Responsibilities
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
- Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
- Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
- Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
- Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
- Any other duties as assigned by Campus Principal.
