Earthworks Finish Dozer
About The Position
Abalone Construction is a privately owned company with over 30 years specializing in Industrial and Commercial civil construction. We offer construction services in a variety of markets including Infrastructure, Roadbuilding, and Land Development. Reporting to the foreman, operators are an integral member of field operations, responsible for providing support on all of our projects. This role involves roundabout construction, including road building, stripping, grading, finish work, reading stakes, and GPS skills are an asset. Experience operating a D6 and highway improvements are also relevant.
Requirements
- Must have minimum 3-5 seasons with sloping and leveling (finish work)
- Must have 5 seasons as a finish dozer operator
- Must have valid CSTS-09, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance and CSA approved 6” steel toe work boots
- Hard working, with a positive attitude & a Willingness to learn
- Desire to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Personal vehicle and valid driver’s license required
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating on commercial and industrial projects is an asset
- Gradesman experience is considered an asset
- GPS skills would be an asset
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the dozer in a safe and efficient manner
- Carry out minor maintenance and inspection
- Operate dozer controls to regulate height and angle of the blade
- Drive dozer in passes over surfaces to raise or lower terrain as specified by the superintendent.
- Follow marks on grade stakes or hand signals.
- Level soil, rock and debris
- Demonstrate clear understanding of roadway plans, drawings and grades
- Follow instruction and collaborate with others to complete tasks
- Perform other related duties as required
