Requirements

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
  • Three or more years of experience in asphalt.
  • High level of reasoning abilities (i.e. Meeting deadlines, Prioritize Company and customer needs, serving as a leader to both peers and direct reports).
  • Possess excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form.
  • Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and work alongside the earthwork/dirt crew during daily operations.
  • Oversee excavation, grading, subgrade preparation, aggregate base placement, compaction, and other earthwork associated with asphalt paving projects.
  • Ensure proper preparation of surfaces prior to asphalt placement.
  • Read and understand project plans, specifications, grades, elevations, and staking.
  • Use grade information and construction technology to ensure work is completed to proper elevations and specifications.
  • Coordinate the operation and movement of equipment such as dozers, motor graders, excavators, skid steers, loaders, compactors, and haul trucks.
  • Coordinate closely with paving crews, project managers, superintendents, truck drivers, subcontractors, and other personnel.
  • Perform daily inspections of the work area and help ensure equipment is being operated safely and properly.
  • Maintain a safe jobsite and ensure crew members follow company policies, OSHA requirements, and established safety procedures.
  • Conduct or assist with daily safety meetings and job hazard discussions.
  • Maintain accurate daily records including employee hours, equipment usage, production, materials, and job progress as required.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with employees, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
